How Do You Get In Your Own Way?

The other morning, I was walking through our beautiful garden at transform GSO to get to my office at Lewis. It had been a frustrating week — lots of little glitches in the road — printer problems, internet problems, parking problems. It just felt like everything was a problem. As I walked by our little patio area, I saw that the morning glories had, overnight, taken over one of the chairs, and my first thought was “ugh! now the morning glories are taking over the garden — one more problem.”  About 15 minutes later, as I was sitting at my computer, probably being frustrated by something in an email, one of our members posted a photo of the morning glory chair and reveled in the beauty of it.

I was stopped in my tracks. I had become so focused on the problems of my week, I couldn’t see anything other than that. As I sat there thinking how our member only saw the beauty, while I could only see the problem, I began to ask myself how that got in the way of my creativity, my appreciation, my ability to move our business forward. I was absolutely getting in my own way, which in turn was impacting the work I want to be doing in our community. How do you get in your own way? How can we better support each other to see the beauty, be grateful and move on from problems to succeeding in whatever we’re trying to build?

All good things,
Peggy

Got a great skill you want to share with the class?

Anything from yoga to accounting to social media to wood carving — if you have a skill you’d like to share with the tGSO community, we want to build opportunities for you to share that bounty!

If you’re interested in investing your time and energy in being a business mentor for one of the entrepreneurs in our tGSO community, we’d love to talk to you about that, too! Matching up seasoned entrepreneurs/business gurus with some of our members who are still in the early stages of getting their business off the ground or who need some pointers on how to take the next step is a mission we’re on!

Email peggy@transformgso.com if you’d like to be a part of building our programming or helping to shape a new business.

We are the sum of our parts!
